Gervase Warner

Experience and expertise

“Gervase Warner is the President and Group CEO of Massy Holdings Ltd. Massy Holdings is one of the largest investment holding groups in the Caribbean with annual Revenue of ~US$2 billion and with operations in the U.S., Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Guyana, Colombia, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Jamaica and other countries in the English-speaking Caribbean. Mr. Warner has served as an Executive Director of the Massy Group for 16 years. From 2004 to 2009 he held the position of Executive Chairman of the Energy and Industrial Gases Business Unit and has been President and Group CEO for the last 11 years.

Before joining Massy, Mr. Warner was a Partner at the international management consulting firm, McKinsey & Company, where he spent eleven years serving clients in the US, Latin America and Caribbean across a wide range of industries. He currently serves as the Chairman of the CARICOM Private Sector Organisation (Associate Institution to the Caribbean Community to support CARICOM Heads of Government to fully implement the CARICOM Single Market and Economy).

Mr. Warner also serves on the boards of directors for Citicorp Merchant Bank (Trinidad & Tobago) Limited, the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business and United Way Trinidad & Tobago. Mr. Warner holds an MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. He also holds BSE degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.”

Brian Hackett

Brian is the Territory Leader of PwC Trinidad and Tobago and the Advisory Leader for PwC
in the Caribbean. PwC in the Caribbean is a group of separate PwC member firms
operating in Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Guyana, Barbados & the Eastern Caribbean,
Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands, Bermuda and The Bahamas.

Brian has a wealth of experience in corporate debt and equity placements as well as buy
and sell support mandates inclusive of financial due diligence, business enterprise
valuations, structuring, project financing, public offerings, financial restructuring, and crisis
management.

Brian advises many top tier clients including private and public sector clients across several
industry sectors, including manufacturing, retail & distribution, financial services, and oil &
gas.

Steven Gooden

Experience and expertise

Steven Gooden is the President of the Jamaica Securities Dealers Association (JSDA), the lobby group representing securities dealers throughout Jamaica; a position he holds since 2017. He has led the charge to promote the interest of the securities industry in Jamaica, to develop and improve its standards while ensuring an active role is played in advancing Jamaica’s economic agenda, market expansion and development. Gooden has a great passion for the deepening and integration of regional capital markets, an agenda he has been championing throughout his career.  Through this, he believes the Caribbean can become a substantial niche player in the global capital markets.

Gooden is also the Chief Executive Officer of NCB Capital Markets Limited (NCBCM); the wealth, asset management and investment banking arm of the NCB Financial Group, a post he has held since 2013. Under his leadership, NCBCM has become the leading capital markets outfit in Jamaica, while expanding its reach throughout the Caribbean through the establishment of hubs in the Cayman Islands, Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados and soon-to-be Guyana. His ascension to executive management began at the age of 26 when he was appointed General Manager for one of Jamaica’s leading fund management companies.

Rooted in his deep affinity for market digitisation, Gooden pioneered the launch of the region’s first digital public equities application platform, GoIPO in Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago. GoIPO is part of NCBCM’s digital suite of investment solutions that allow investors to make trades from anywhere in the world, using any digital device.

Gooden currently sits on the board of directors of the Jamaica Stock Exchange and several companies within the NCB Financial Group. Additionally, he is the Chairman of two publicly listed junior market companies and sits on the board of directors of TransJamaican Highway Ltd.

He is a holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, has a Master’s Degree in Finance and Economics, a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Accounting, and has received many accolades in the areas of research and portfolio management. He has also participated in executive development courses covering Strategy, Change Leadership and Mergers & Acquisitions.

Steve Edwards

Experience and expertise

Steve Edwards, CFA, serves as a senior investment strategist and head of the Portfolio Analytics and Cross-Asset Strategy Team within Morgan Stanley Wealth Management’s Global Investment Office in New York. Along with his team, he is responsible for quantitative analysis to support the Firm’s asset allocation, manager selection, and portfolio construction decisions. The team oversees a series of ETF model portfolios and several Firm-discretionary portfolios and provides investment strategy through special reports and periodicals, including the monthly “Topics in Portfolio Construction” piece.

He previously served as a portfolio strategist within the Outsourced CI0 Team, where he designed the team’s quantitative investment infrastructure and participated in the ongoing portfolio management process. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley in 2015, Steve co-founded Frontera Management, a systematic global macro firm, where he served as a principal and portfolio manager. Steve started his career at Bridgewater Associates and later served as a researcher and portfolio manager at Spruce Private Investors, a $1.5 billion Outsourced 00 firm, where he designed a systematic investment process and managed client portfolios and a global macro overlay. Steve received an A.B. degree in history from Princeton University in 2001, earning mag11n c11111 laude and Phi Beta Kappa honors, and played on the school’s golf team. Steve became a CFA charterholder in 2006 and is a member of both the CFA Institute and the Stamford (Connecticut) CFA Society.

Nigel M Baptiste, a career Banker for the past thirty-one years, holds the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of Republic Financial Holdings Limited and Managing Director of Republic Bank Limited. Mr Baptiste holds a B.Sc.(Hons.) and M.Sc. in Economics from the University of the West Indies, is a graduate of the Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Programme, holds a diploma with distinction from the ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking (USA) and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (England).

Mr. Baptiste joined Republic Bank in 1991, after spending two years at the Caribbean Development Bank in Barbados where he was employed as a Country Economist. Prior to assuming his current position of Managing Director, he served as Deputy Managing Director and Executive Director of Republic Bank Limited, General Manager-Human Resources and Managing Director of the Group’s subsidiary in Guyana.

Mr. Baptiste currently sits on the Board of the Group’s subsidiary in Guyana, Ghana, Cayman as well as various other subsidiaries in Trinidad.

Nigel, throughout his career, has demonstrated the ability to work successfully in dynamic environments, designing, leading and executing strategies which resulted in impressive value creation. He served as Chief Executive and Executive Director – Investments at a group of companies, and was critical in guiding multiple complex mergers and acquisitions. He is a leading authority on corporate restructuring.
During his tenure as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at the UTC, he was instrumental in the UTC maintaining a robust financial position and ensuring its ability to optimize opportunities.
The holder of an M.Sc. in Finance from the London Business School and a B.Sc. in Management Studies from The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Nigel is also a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
Nigel appreciates that building customer relationships is fundamental to our continued growth and strengthening our competitive edge. As Executive Director, he will lead the charge in continuing the UTC’s innovation thrust and strategic leadership, and strengthening the UTC’s competitive edge in the financial services sector.

Gregory Hill

GREGORY N. HILL, Managing Director, ANSA Merchant Bank, Trinidad and Tobago:-

Gregory N. Hill is a career investment banker and Caribbean business influencer. He has served in leadership and executive positions at preeminent regional and international Financial Institutions and Business Associations for nearing 30 years.

Mr. Hill joined ANSA Merchant Bank Limited (AMBL) in Trinidad and Tobago in 2007 after acquiring significant banking and capital markets exposure. As Managing Director, he has steered AMBL to become a dynamic regional financial institution.

Today, the AMBL Financial Group is unique in the Caribbean financial sector. It encompasses non-bank financial institutions and a newly acquired retail commercial bank. Mr. Hill is Chairman of ANSA Merchant Bank (Barbados) Limited and a Director of one of the region’s oldest insurance companies, TATIL, which owns TATIL Life and has a significant branch in Barbados. In February 2021, AMBL concluded the acquisition of an international bank and launched ANSA Bank Limited, of which Mr. Hill is a Director.

Mr. Hill maintains his connections to the Arthur Lok Jack Global School of Business where he graduated as Top MBA Student on completing his Executive MBA. He remains Chairman of its Alumni Association, and mentors young students with big dreams whilst creating opportunities for suitable candidates within the AMBL fold.

Mr. Hill is actively involved in energizing and promoting regional business sectors for entrepreneurs and business owners. He sits as Vice President of the Board of the Trinidad and Tobago American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) and is focused on developing channels of opportunity on a wider scale at the national level

Gregory N. Hill is a graduate and Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK) (FCCA), and a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Trinidad and Tobago (ICATT). He represents the Caribbean region as a Committee Member of the Accountant for Business Global ACCA Forum.

Jason Julien

Experience and expertise

Jason Julien is a Chartered Financial Analyst with over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. He is the holder of a BSc in Management Studies with honours from the University of the West Indies, an MBA from Edinburgh Business School as well top honours in IABF’s 2018 Professional Certificate for Financial Advisors Programme (Cert. FA) in the Banking Specialization. He is currently enrolled in the Stonier Graduate School of Banking and his career has covered consultancy with PricewaterhouseCoopers and management positions at an international bank. He was also employed with one of the largest financial services conglomerates in the Caribbean, where he managed over $8 billion in assets.

He is a member of the Finance Faculty at the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business, and is a commentator on economic, investment and financial matters. Mr. Julien was also honoured as one of the Distinguished Alumni of UWI, St Augustine. Mr. Julien is a Past President of the CFA Society of Trinidad and Tobago and has served on the Boards of the Mutual Fund Association of Trinidad and Tobago, the Securities Dealers Association of Trinidad and Tobago, as the Vice-Chairman of the Capital Markets Development Committee of the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago, and as Chairman of the Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce and Term Finance Holdings Limited. Mr Julien is also a Director on the boards of several subsidiaries within the First Citizens Group.

Trevor Blake

Experience and expertise

Trevor E Blake is the Managing Director of the Eastern Caribbean Securities Exchange Ltd (ECSE), and its subsidiary, the Eastern Caribbean Central Securities Depository Ltd (ECCSD). He has been the chief executive officer of the Group since January 2005 and has been integrally involved with the Group from inception. He served previously as a member of the first Boards of Directors of the ECSE and its subsidiaries, and as Company Secretary.

Prior to joining the ECSE Group, Mr Blake held the position of Director of the Financial & Enterprise Development Department of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), where he had direct responsibility for the Bank’s Money & Capital Markets Development programme. This included the creation of the Eastern Caribbean Securities Market and the Regional Government Securities Market, and the establishment of the ECSE Group companies, and of the Eastern Caribbean Securities Regulatory Commission. His other areas of focus included fostering and promoting the development of the private enterprise in the Currency Union.

Mr Blake was one of the driving forces behind the Caribbean Corporate Governance Forum, a pan-Caribbean grouping established to promote high standards of governance in the region’s private and public sectors. He was the served as the joint convener of the Forum and its Technical Working Group, which formulated a set of Corporate Governance Principles for the region.

At the wider regional level, he has served as a member of several regional of regional committees, including the CARICOM Special Technical Team on Investment, the Regional Investment Promotion Steering Committee, and the University of the West Indies Investment Advisory Committee. He is in his 5th consecutive 2-year term as a member of the Executive Committee of the Association of Central Securities Depositories of the Americas (ACSDA), which he currently serves as Vice President. He is also a member of the Board of the World Forum of CSDs.

Mr Blake is the Vice President of the St Kitts- and Nevis Chamber of Industry and Commerce. An active Rotarian, he is a Past District Governor of Rotary International District 7030. Mr Blake holds an MBA (Financial Studies) from the University of Nottingham and qualified an Associate of the UK Chartered Institute of Bankers.

Mr. George Edwards is the General Manager of the Guyana Association of Securities Companies and Intermediaries Incorporated (GASCI), Guyana’s local Stock Exchange. Prior to joining the Stock Exchange in 2005, Mr. Edwards spent most of his working life in Banking, working previously with Barclays Bank and the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry Limited. He holds a Bachelor of Social Science in Business Management from the University of Guyana and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Guyana/Commonwealth of Learning.

With over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, Ms. Eva Mitchell has built her professional career on the hallmarks of innovation and service excellence. Passionate about economic growth and financial inclusion, Ms. Mitchell advocates for leveraging technology and collaboration to drive innovation and success across industries.

Prior to her appointment as Chief Executive Officer of the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange (TTSE) in April 2021, Ms. Mitchell operated in the capacity of Manager – Market Operations, overseeing the day to day operations of the market. In this role, she was instrumental in creating a technologically sound, world-class stock exchange and a depository compliant with international trading and settlement standards.

Throughout her career, which extends beyond the TTSE and includes international financial institutions, Ms. Mitchell has been involved in pioneering key product launches and financial transactions, contributing to the further deepening of the local financial market. She has worked closely with local and regional representatives (both public and private sector) to help raise awareness of the challenges related to service delivery excellence.

As CEO of the TTSE, Ms. Mitchell oversees the business operations of the organization, with an emphasis on increasing investor education, strengthening the SME Market, and the growth and development of the Exchange. Passionate about leadership, she is committed to staff development and regards her team as a valuable resource that is critical to the success of the organization.

dr. marlene street forrest

Experience and expertise

Mrs. Marlene Street Forrest is the Managing Director of the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) and Director of both its subsidiaries. Her mandate is to continue the process of developing the JSE Group and particularly the Exchange, in an atmosphere of transparency and fairness while utilizing appropriate technology in providing the greatest possible efficiencies to the market. Mrs. Street Forrest has a wealth of experience having worked in senior management positions at varying private and public sector organizations here in Jamaica and overseas. It is under her stewardship that the JSE became demutualized and the US Denominated Market and the Junior Market were launched. She also spearheaded the Registrar Division of the Jamaica Central Depository (JCSD) when she served as General Manager for this subsidiary of the JSE. Mrs. Street Forrest attended the University of the West Indies, Mona, where she read for the Bachelors Degree in Management Studies and later gained her Masters in Business Administration at the Barry University in Florida. In 2016, Mrs. Street Forrest was conferred with the honour of the Order of Distinction in the Rank of Commander (CD) in recognition of her outstanding leadership in the growth of the Jamaica Stock Exchange. In that same year she also received the Afroglobal Excellence Award for Global Impact from Canada for exhibiting great leadership, vision, integrity and commitment to excellence. She was an Observer Business Leader Nominee in 2017 and was also celebrated by the Institute for Gender and Development Studies – UWI as a Woman Pioneer. In 2018 she received the Rotary Club of Kingston East and Port Royal Vocational Services Award and was recently recognized by the Alex Ihama School of Greatness as the Business Leader of the Decade. Mrs. Street Forrest was conferred with a Honorary Doctoral Degree in Public Policy by the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean on July 18, 2021 for her contribution to nation building. She is also the 2021 recipient of the Soroptimist International (Jamaica) Stella Gregory Award which is presented annually to an outstanding woman, who has excelled in her chosen field and has contributed to national development. She is a Justice of the Peace and serves as a Director for the Good Samaritan Inn, a Christian outreach aimed at uplifting the poor and marginalized.

marlon yarde

Experience and expertise

Marlon E. Yarde has been with the Barbados Stock Exchange Group since November 1, 2003. The Group includes the parent, Barbados Stock Inc (BSE) its subsidiary, the Barbados Central Securities Depository Inc. (BCSDI) and the subsidiary of the BCSDI, the BCSDI Custodian Trust Services Inc. (BCTSI). He currently holds the position of Managing Director and CEO within the Group.

Mr. Yarde has played a leadership role in the significant developments within the BSE over his eighteen plus years tenure, including the BSE’s demutualization and the launch of the International Securities Market.

Mr. Yarde, a Chartered Accountant with his professional qualifications being a Fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants Association of Canada and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Barbados.

He is also a Chartered Governance Professional and Chartered Secretary holding a Fellowship designation from the Chartered Governance Institute given in London.
In addition, Mr. Yarde holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Huddersfield in the UK and a Master of Laws Degree, specializing in Securities Law from Osgoode Hall Law School of York University in Toronto, Canada.

Mr. Yarde is a keen support of and advocate for excellent corporate governance practice in Barbados and the wider Caribbean.

Randall karim

Experience and expertise

Mr. Karim leads a team whose responsibilities include strategic planning, policy formulation, financial management, monitoring and evaluation, implementation of business reforms and implementation of projects in keeping with the Government of Trinidad and Tobago’s Development Agenda.

Mr. Karim holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Management; Master’s Degree in Economics and Master of Business Administration (Distinction) from the University of the West Indies. He also holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree from the University of London and Postgraduate Legal Practice Course (LPC) from De Montfort University, Leicester, UK (Distinction). He is an Attorney at Law and graduate of the Executive Program, John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, Massachusetts, USA. He is also a certified Project Management Professional (P.M.P.).

During his tenure at the MTI, he has served on several Cabinet appointed Committees and on the Board of Directors of state agencies tasked with implementing trade and investment-related policies for Trinidad and Tobago.

Mr. Karim has served in the MTI for over nineteen years including in the capacities of Trade Specialist and Director, Policy and Strategy. He is currently the Chief Technical and Operations Advisor of the Ministry and provides strategic support to the Permanent Secretary and Minister.

Angus P. Young

Experience and expertise

Angus P. Young joined the NCB Financial Group (‘NCBFG’) in 2014 as Chief Executive Officer of NCB Merchant Bank (Trinidad and Tobago) Ltd. In 2018, Angus was also appointed Regional Head of Investment Banking at NCB Capital Markets Ltd and maintained dual roles until his appointment as Executive Vice President – Regional Investment Banking and New Markets at NCB Capital Markets Ltd. on July 1, 2022.

Angus is a Director of NCB Merchant Bank (Trinidad and Tobago) Ltd., NCB Capital Markets (Barbados) Ltd. and NCB Capital Markets (Guyana) Inc. Prior to joining the NCBFG, Angus served as the Managing Director of BDO Financial Advisory Services Ltd., which represented BDO’s corporate finance and transaction advisory interest in Trinidad & Tobago.

Before joining BDO, Angus was Vice President of Business Development at First Global
(Trinidad & Tobago) Ltd. where he was charged with the responsibility of Corporate Finance & Capital Market origination in T&T and Jamaica. Prior to FGTT, Angus spent four years at RBTT Merchant Bank Ltd. in leadership roles including Assistant Vice President and Regional Manager of Capital Market Origination where he covered the OECS territories and Guyana. Angus is a Director of the Securities Dealers Association of Trinidad & Tobago.

Angus holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Administrative & Commercial Studies (Financial & Economic Studies) from the University of Western Ontario and a Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting from Wilfrid Laurier University, School of Business and Economics, Ontario.

Dr. Mahindra Ramdeen

Experience and expertise

Dr. Mahindra Ramdeen is currently employed as the Chief Executive Officer at the Trinidad & Tobago Manufacturers’ Association (TTMA). He is also a Director at National Entrepreneurship Development Company Limited (NEDCO) and a member of the National Tripartite Advisory Council (NTAC). He was a Director, on behalf of the TTMA, on the Board of the Metal Industries Company Limited. He previously worked as the Trade Development Specialist with the TTMA; previous to that he worked at the Ministry of Trade and Industry in the capacity of a Fair Trading Investigator for approximately four years, where his specialty was in the area of Trade Remedies and Competition Policy and Law. He also worked as an Economist for a period of six years in the said Ministry as well as an Economist with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Dr. Ramdeen is also a part-time lecturer at the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business in the Executive MBA program – Macro Economics and Caribbean Business Environment. Dr. Ramdeen has a PhD in International trade. He has completed 2 Masters Degrees: one in the area of International Trade Policy and the other in International Relations. His first degree is in Economics and he possesses a post graduate diploma in International Relations.

Dr. Ramdeen has completed a full program in Export Marketing and is fully certified as an Export Marketing Trainer. He has engaged training of various CEOs of SMEs within T&T and the wider Caricom region in Export Marketing and Business Strategy. He has also completed a certified course in Train the Trainers with GIZ and Caribbean Export Development Agency. Dr. Ramdeen possesses numerous certificates in International Trade, Trade Negotiations, Competition Policy and Law and Trade Remedies.

nirad tewarie

Experience and expertise

Nirad Tewarie is the Chief Executive Officer of AMCHAM T&T. He has twenty-five years’ experience in media, communications, management, education and international relations. Nirad is a member of the Wilton Park Caribbean 2030 Leaders Network and the National Tripartite Advisory Council (NTAC) having been appointed by Dr the Honourable Keith Rowley, Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago.

Nirad was formerly the CEO of the T&T Coalition of Services Industries (TTCSI), Chairman of the Caribbean Network of Services Coalitions, a member of the Communications and Public Affairs Division of the Commonwealth Secretariat in London, UK and a columnist for the Trinidad Guardian. His work has been featured by local and international media houses including The Miami Herald. A keen supporter of the arts, Nirad is an Associate Producer of Bazodee the Movie and the former Chairman of the Cabinet Appointed Fashion Industry Development Committee. He has served on the Board of the Telecommunications Authority of T&T, the T&T Hospitality and Tourism Institute, the Indian Caribbean Museum and Vision on Mission Prisoner Rehabilitation Programme among others. He also currently serves on various private sector boards.

Nirad holds a BSc. in Mass Communications from Florida International University and an MSc in International Relations from the Institute of International Relations, UWI.
Most of all, Nirad is a devoted husband and father and hopes to leave the world a little better than he found it.

Marlene Attzs

Experience and expertise

DR. MARLENE ATTZS is a Lecturer an Economist based at the University of the West Indies (UWI), St Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago. With more than 25 years’ experience as an economist focusing primarily on the economics of sustainable development, Dr Attzs has consulted with regional and international organisations such as the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). She has served as Chairman, Deputy Chairman and Member of a number of state Boards and Institutions.

Dr. Attzs currently serves as a Director on the Boards of Tatil General and Tatil Life and also is a Board member of the Family Planning Association of Trinidad and Tobago. She is a regular public commentator on national social and economic matters.

John Outridge

Experience and expertise

John Outridge joined the T&T IFC as its Chief Executive Officer in August 2021.

He is responsible for leading the company as it executes its mandate of driving digital financial services adoption across all sectors so Trinidad and Tobago can maintain its position as the Financial Hub of the region and becomes a premier location for FinTech-enabled services.

John has worked in both the public and private sectors regionally. He has over 10 years senior management experience and has supported many institutions in relation to providing strategic guidance on fintech strategies as well as modernization of public financial management systems for various Governments throughout the region.

He brings to the T&T IFC a wealth of experience in the areas of; Digital transformation, Payment systems and electronic funds transfer implementation, strategy and operating model design for state enterprises and financial services organizations, fintech and neo bank strategies and EFT policy development.

He holds a Master of Small and Medium Enterprise Management (distinction) from the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business and lectures on programmes relating to digital and technology management for the University of Bedforshire (UK.)

John also is Deputy Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAMTT), Digital transformation subcommittee focused on supporting national policy development for Trinidad and Tobago as it relates to enabling technology to facilitate both the ease of doing business as well as enhancing citizen service delivery.
